I need help with sizing! Where do I start?
See the size guide link at the top of the page for exact sizing details along with a list of breed examples that can help direct you. Please note that breed examples listed are approximate - it is always advised to measure your pup for true fit when possible.
Check out our Measurement Guide to watch a video tutorial or schedule a free consultation to get your questions answered, and visit our Jacket Gallery to see a collection of dogs in the various sizes.
Or, after measuring, you can't find an in-stock option that will fit your pup? Visit our Custom Jacket page to learn more about made-to-order options.
How does sizing work and what measurements are most important?
Wag Theory sizes are categorized by a general indicator (small / medium / large) plus the coat length. There are three important measurements that ensure proper fit: length, neck, and chest. The chest has adjustable straps and typically fits a wide range of pups without issue, but the neck and length are what typically determines if the in stock jacket will work or if a custom dog coat would be preferable.
What are my options if the jacket doesn't fit? You have a couple options! Within 14 days, you can exchange your unworn/unused jacket for another jacket of equal value (within the same size tier), or receive store credit toward the purchase of a Custom coat or different priced item in the store. Please refer to the Exchange + Return policy for full details.

I initially bought the burgundy jacket with rainbow trim as a gift for my partner and her pup Zoltar. I didn’t do the best at measuring and got a size too big even though there’s a chart with different breeds and size suggestions (doh!). I didn’t realize until we fell out of the return/exchange window so I emailed Jenny asking if I could still make an exchange. She replied within 10 min, graciously let me exchange, and invited me and pup to the studio to get properly fitted. Jenny went even farther and expedited a medium 22” jacket since they were out of stock, so we left the appointment with a brand new jacket. The Pupper looked so good in the jacket and the quality of material/craftsmanship was immediately apparent. This is a jacket built to last, you get what you pay for. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience with the added benefit of supporting local! If you’re on the fence, just go for it, you won’t be disappointed.
Our Mastador "Buns" loves her waxed canvas jacket. Whether we're around town or camping at the lake for the weekend, she's warm & ready to take on any adventure. Great fit, stylish and able to withstand mud, scrapes from branches and hanging by the campfire. Would definitely recommend!
